What We Do

Mission Statement

Our mission is to present the unchanging gospel of Jesus Christ in a relevant way to a changing world.

We aim to make Worship, Bible Study and Prayer central to our life together:  to follow the example of Jesus Christ in every aspect of our lives, and to help other people to know Him as Saviour and Lord.

We are a friendly and welcoming church, with a diverse and inclusive ethos, welcoming everyone regardless of background, beliefs, age or gender, ethnicity, health or ability.

We have a number of groups of people who are responsible for implementing these aims.

OTHER CHURCH GROUPS

Music

The church values music and sees it as an integral part of our worship. lt has the advantage of an impressive pipe organ that leads traditional hymns whilst a Music Group augments the organ and takes the lead in introducing newer hymns and songs led by electric piano, varying instrumentalists and singers.

Some members of the church are part of a choir of 3 free churches in the town and often sing at combined services.

Bible Study & Prayer Groups

Groups meet for fellowship, prayer and bible study either during the day or evening and  also at particular times of the year, e.g. Advent, Lent. People are encouraged to join a group that suits their work or time schedule so that they can grow spiritually and be supported by prayer and fellowship.

Outreach Group

This group arranges activities and events throughout the year which include individuals and families both within and outside of the church fellowship.

Spiritual Development Group

This group is based on Matthew 28:18-20 and follows the Lord’s commission, “…to make and teach disciples…” It sources literature for fellowship groups, arranges special services, activities and prayer sessions. It  encourages members to be involved in outreach and mission activities and welcomes further thoughts and ideas for mission from members of the fellowship.

Climate Group

The main activity has been to keep environmental issues before the membership – recycling, energy use, the plastics problem, de-forestation, etc.  The Group is striving to see conservation and a fairer society as fundamental to Christian living.
